When the Methodists sold their chapel it was purchased by the community and renovated into a community center through the hard work of some dedicated individuals.

Several days a week volunteers now provide teas, home cooked lunches and a range of cakes and such. This helps lure us all out of our homes and mix together as a community. As well as being very tasty as well.

As you can see in the panorama there is already a good crowd starting on early lunches or just having a coffee. Behind you can see an art exhibition and off to the side down the corridor you can just glimpse a display case of the village museum which contains many items from its mining, granite quarrying and agricultural history.

Upstairs remains the original Methodist half circle wooden amphitheater which now provides a popular venue for touring plays and productions which reguarly sell out.

All in all it has been a great success in maintaining a sense of community in the village against turning into a pure commuter dormitory for the surrounding towns.
