Caption
This bridge over the Linn Of Dee near Braemar, was built in by the fifth Earl of Fife and opened by Queen Victoria on the 8th of September 1857. Below the river Dee is forced through a narrow rocky gully to produce fierce and turbulent currents, which are a formidable barrier for the salmon heading to their spawning grounds.
There is a granite plaque just downstream as a memorial to the deaths of Gwyn Gatenby and Katie Todd who accidentally drowned here on the 16th October 1927.
