Caption

Not much is left of the windmill near Beuvrequen. The remains of the wooden structure and the mechanism have collapsed inside the building.

Tower mills have been constructed since the 13th century. Only the wooden cap of the tower mill was turned into the wind, which made it possible to build it from stone. This construction was more solid and could be built higher than the earlier post mills, thus allowing larger sails and greater capacity.
