A cultural shrine to recorded music in central Texas closed its' doors forever April 1, 2012 after a storied 35 year run. In addition to the vast selection of titles, there were music posters, stickers, incense, tobacco products, body jewelry, t-shirts, frisbees, very helpful and knowledgeable employees -- this store had it all. Sundance Records and Tapes in San Marcos, Texas, was an institution, not just a place to buy albums. Adjacent to the campus of Texas State University, the main customer base for Sundance was college students who now get most of their new music by clicking. First there were the vinyl LP's, then cassettes, and lastly CD's before falling victim to internet downloading of recorded music. The digital age finally caught up with Sundance Records.
