March 24 was a carefully planned day: leave home in Austin, Texas at 5:00am for the 407 mile drive to Hobbs, New Mexico to attend a mid-afternoon concert of the Southwest Symphony Orchestra and enjoy my daughter Melissa's performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. Along the way, I carefully budgeted the time for "panorama opportunities", in particular, 6 of the 254 county courthouses so unique to Texas that I had yet to see. (See my panorama of the Wise County Courthouse in Decatur, WWP event 912, "Necessity".)

Things were going as planned until my arrival in Hobbs shortly after noon. The long drive was a safe one and courthouse panoramas had been taken in the towns of Paint Rock, San Angelo, Sterling City, Big Spring, Lamesa, and Seminole, Texas. When I joined my wife Linda who had arrived in Hobbs earlier in the week, she suggested that in the time still available before the concert I should take a short drive with her so she could show me something interesting. At one of the busiest intersections in town I was completely surprised to see a giant digital billboard advertising the concert that would commence in less than two hours. And the panorama gear was still in the car...
