Anything that needs to be transported needs fuel. For the 31,427 men and woman who were running the 33rd Berlin-Marathon the fuel they needed to “transport” themselves was water. Therefore I chose the refreshment station at kilometer 25.5 to make my panorama. The sound you hear is the scrunch of the plastic mugs the runners dropped on the street. The sound was very hypnotizing after a while. You also hear a group of the one million spectators celebrating the runners with their drums. The sound does not turn out very clear since I had to use my little Pentax Optio S to record it. It may give you an impression of the mood though. After all, the marathon was a big party for the spectators as well as the wheelchair athletes, skaters, handbikers, power walker and runners who participated the marathon weekend in Berlin. Another panorama of the Berlin-Marathon 2006 was made by Michael Stoss at kilometer 33.
