The Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) provides numerous machines for hundreds of researchers in many fields, including physics, biology, chemistry, materials science, art, archaeology, and others.

Faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates perform experiments here when they need access to high-intensity X-rays. These scientists come from around the globe to use the equipment here.

Amongst the machines at CHESS, one can find these: goniometer, shutter/collimator assembly crystal automounter, collimator, rotation stage, crystal-viewing camera, photoelectron monitor, Huber four-circle diffractometer, energy-dispersive detectors, laser, double bounce monochromator, scanning x-ray microscope, and a wiggler.

For more information about the machines, visit the CHESS web site.
