The 2008 BIMC (Beijing International Media Center), an important venue established for the 29th Olympic Games, provides news, information and reception services for journalists who do not have an Olympic Identity and Accreditation Card issued by the International Olympic Committee. It also serves as an important platform for the release of news and information about Beijing generally, and other parts of China.

The BIMC strives to offer professional, international-standard services to journalists visiting Beijing to cover the Olympic Games. It has been with the maximum convenience of journalists in mind that the facility has been designed - not only in relation to their work here but also their free time. It really can genuinely be called their "home away from home".

The BIMC is located between the North Second and Third Ring Roads, two kms from the major Olympic venues. It is divided into seven major functional areas: Media Accreditation, General Services, Services for Journalists, Journalists' Working Area , Press Conferences, exhibitions, and catering and recreation.

During the Beijing Olympic Games, the BIMC holds press conferences on a regular basis, providing journalists with abundant and valuable information about Beijing and the rest of China. In addition, it provide interview services, and stage a variety of cultural activities.

The Centre also helps foreign journalists get to know more about China, as well as about Beijing's commitment to holding a "Green Olympics, Hi-tech Olympics and People's Olympics," so that journalists from around the world would be able to feel, experience and share the passion and dream of the Beijing Olympics.
