Caption
Heye Steenblock and his father Theo run the last commercially operated windmill in eastern frisia.

The panorama shows the housing of the millstone, which is turned by a vertical arbor - a solid piece of oak wood going through three floors up to the giant wooden gear wheels which transfer the rotation from the propeller shaft at the top of the building.

The mill was built in 1886 and continued to work for the last 120 years more or less unaltered. Mr. Steenblock points out that his mill is no museum like many other windmills in northern germany and the netherlands. He produces both animal feed and flour on a commercial basis.
