Just south of Kokubunji Station on the Chuo Line (Tokyo metro area) is tiny Tonogaya Park. A municipal park, it costs only ¥150 to enter but offers beautifully sculpted gardens and grounds, stepping stones across a carp pond, two old Japanese houses, a waterfall (well, water-trickle), fiery maples in autumn, and this bamboo grove. There are other attractions, but one of the greatest is that this little park shuts the modern world out almost completely but for the faux whirring and clicking of digital cameras.

I love the color and height of the bamboo as well as the resonant clacks when the wind blows them against each other.
