The Garfield Park Conservatory on Chicago's West Side celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. Conceived as a showcase for "landscape art under glass," the conservatory, one of the largest publicly owned facilities of its kind in the world, is one of the city's unique gems and best kept secrets. Strolling through the collections of rare tropical plants on a cold, bright, winter's day provides a lush getaway from the season and is one of my favorite pleasures. In 2002, the Conservatory hosted an exhibition of glass sculptures created by Dale Chihuly. The glass lily pads which grace the Persian Pool in the Aroid House remain here as permanent features.

Equipment
This HDR panorama was created by taking multiple bracketed images, using a Nikon D80 camera equipped with a Nikor 10.5mm wide-angle lens, mounted on a "Nodal-Ninja 3" spherical bracket atop a Manfrotto tripod. Images were stiched using PTGui Pro, HDR tonemapping and other postprocessing was done in Photoshop. QuickTimeVR format output created using Pano2VR.
