This rock formation is called "Les deux trous" – the two holes – and is situated in the Alpilles, a small chain of mountains south of Avignon. Through one of the holes the former monastery Saint-Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Rémy-en-Provence is visible, where Vincent van Gogh stayed from May 1889 until May 1890. Van Gogh has pictured these rocks as they can be seen from Saint-Rémy in his painting "Olive Trees in a Mountainous Landscape".Location
