Veliki Snežnik (1,796 M) is the highest summit in Slovenia which is not in the Alps. From the summit is a vista to the Alps and also to the Adriatic Sea, which is only 25 KM away. The summit is actually the highest point of the Karst plateau and below the summit are beech tree forests with the elevation border up to ~ 1400 M. This is a winter scene from the Snežnik beech tree forest.Location
