The Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a large reserve forest within the metropolitan limits of the populous city of Mumbai. Spread over 104 sq km, the forest is visited by over 2 Million tourists every year. At the center of the Park are 2,000+ year old Buddhist rock-cut monuments called Kanheri Caves. The park today has serious encroachment problems as it faces the ever increasing conflict between the exploding human population and the pristine environment.Location
