The Kannenfeldpark was opened in 1868 as a cemetery in the style of English parks, but in 1952 transformed into a public park. The 8.5 ha are covered by more than 800 trees of 180 various kinds (e.g. 34 kinds of maples, 27 kinds of oaks, 13 kinds of magnolias), almost forming an urban wood. An alley of large chestnut trees runs across the middle of it.More details (in German only) can be found on the website of the Stadtgärtnerei Basel.
