I find the ruins of old Abbeys and Castles can be both tranquil and creative places to visit. There are many such places to visit in Wales and Neath Abbey is situated in the south of the country on the banks of the Tennant Canal.

During spring and autumn the mist hangs low over the canal giving an eerie atmosphere to the Abbey. Founded in 1130 by the Norman Baron, Richard de Granville, the Abbey enjoyed varying fortunes, even serving as an early copper works after the dissolution of the Cistercian monks.
