I have been going to Laie Cemetery for over 10 years almost every week to put flowers on a relative’s grave. Many graveyards in Hawaii are very regulated and do not allow any variation between the different graves. Some have simple flat plaques with names, dates, etc. on them. Some have tombstones that are somewhat similar. Out here in the country this cemetery does not seem to have any regulations other than the boundary of the grave site itself. Some graves are unmarked, some have very simple homemade markers, some have commercially made markers, and others have very elaborate homemade grave markers. Hawaii is known for the diversity of its cultures and this diversity of its people has extended to this graveyard.

Equipment

Nikon D70, Nikkor 10.5mm lens, homemade camera mount on Manfrotto rotator which is on a Manfrotto Levelor which is on a Gitzo Weekender tripod. Imac, Photoshop CS2, PTMac, Cubic Converter were used to process the panorama.
