Historical combat reenactment is a recreational activity re-creating (re-enacting) the aspects of warrior cultures from certain periods in history. The turbulent and often violent history of Estonia is perhaps best emphasized in the so-called "Eastern Viking Age" of 12th-13th century AD when the pagan tribes of modern day Estonia became active in raiding and pillaging their then-christian neighbours. The ancient warriors of Estonian matched the Scandinavian vikings from couple of centuries earlier in all but the name.

Combined with increasingly popular experimental archeology and "living history" groups, the re-enactment of their warlike ancestors is becoming increasingly popular past-time activity in modern Estonia.
