Until a decade ago, there were freight trains running across the very place where I took this picture. The city of Frankfurt has spread since then, railroad tracks giving way to a new residential area. In another ten years from now, nothing will indicate that for 100 years, this area had once been one of the largest freight train terminals in the middle of Germany. By then, the new "European quarter" will have approx. 10.000 residents.
