February 3, 2004. Sally Allsup a close neighbour and Landscape Architect designed our Xeriscape garden area.  Plant selections were to be drought resistant, perineal and evergreen. Means does not need excess watering, bloom each year and foliage is green all year long.

Thrift or “Armeria maritima” is a species of flowering plant in the family name Plumbaginaceae.  Seventeen years later the “Sea Thrift plant” is one that has returned each year. Tall stem pink cloud like flowers rise above the “base of green foliage”.

Thrift prefers full sun, well-drained soil and requires little water. Extremely drought tolerant and very low maintenance plant. Savvy gardeners trim off old blooms to encourage new flowers. (Thanks to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armeria_maritima)
