Snorkeling in the Galápagos, I was mesmerized by the marine fauna all around me, first seeing vague shapes in the water at a distance and then - with luck - swimming close enough to distinguish the particular animal, or having it swim directly below me or around me.  (It was with even greater luck that I managed to hit the record button on my camera at just the right moment to capture the scene!) This sea turtle was one of several that allowed us to float in its vicinity as it grazed for food and swam around us.
