You need to use 2 stations of the Dachstein cable car to come within comfort distance of the "5 fingers" viewing platform.

The cable cars have been modernized in 2007 and can now transport 60 foot-lame alpinists with a speed of 43 km/h up the mountain, providing a creepy thrill when passing the middle supporting tower of the second section. I had the joy of riding the cabin with a group of screaming Japanese tourists up towards the Krippenstein...

Despite the easy reachability, you are provided with some reference points to put your elevated position into a relation: In the panorama, it is a 400m abyss below your feet, as well as Hallstatt, approx. 5 km away and 1.5 km below the viewing platform.
