We went on a recent trip to a new place, the Outer Banks North Carolina, with a few new high school graduates along. We went on a climb up Jockey’s Ridge State Park and the largest sand dune system on the east coast. The dunes can be 100 feet (30 m) tall and the park covers 426 acres (172. 4 ha). The trek up the dunes was long and hot, but ultimately worth it. At the top are stunning views of the Roanoke Sound to the east. Once we’d reached the top, the new graduates felt moved to express their jubilance at mastering the climb and finishing their high school years.
