The Industrial Park was built at the beginning of the nineties with the intention of developing a new industrial area at a strategic location.
It currently covers an area of about 1.5 mill. square meters with just under 500 companies and around 10k employees, but these, will nearly double once the total extension has been reached. Although it was initially used mainly by the traditional local shoe industries, it nowadays holds many different companies, small and large, from a great variety of sectors such as shoe-manufacturing and commercialisation, computing, advertising, textile, editorial and metallurgical industries, etc. and of course, subsidiary-servicing business.
The park is located 8 km away from the Mediterranean sea, winters are mild and there is usually good weather all year round. It is close to an airport, harbours, train stations and motorways. It has direct road access to main cities around: Elche, Santa Pola and Alicante, and it is close to exhibition centres and Universities. The design, infrastructure and localisation of the Park makes it one of the most promising in Spain.
There is however one inconvenience; the rate at which the industrial park is growing is having a negative effect on part of the traditional countryside (see WWP Atmosphere).
Special thanks to Raquel Rosique Navarro, director of the Park, for the information provided. Picture theme by Sonia Zamora-Amorós. Picture production by Antonio V. Garcia-Serrano.
