The Albany Brass Ring Carousel Project is endeavoring to create a beautiful hand-carved and hand-painted carousel for the area. Rather than having work done behind closed doors, the carving and painting studios are open to the public. This "performance" allows everyone to see the process from raw wooden blocks to spectacular fanciful animals.

The project started as a local effort but unique designs caught the eye of the Dentzel corporation, a long-time carousel manufacturer. The National Carousel Association and the William Dentzel family donated an antique mechanism to the Brass Ring and have provided a number of pieces for the on-site museum. The museum showcases many antique animals and related mechanisms, models, and artwork. Plans call for the finished carousel to be part of a world-class museum and exhibition.
