The Dutch performance group from the Netherlands known as "Tuig" performed in New York City on Governors Island as part of NY400's - New Island Festival during September 10-20, 2009. This festival celebrated the Dutch arrival on the island 400 years ago and featured 10 days of mind-blowing theatre, music and art from the Netherlands. This nighttime performance by "Tuig," called "Salto Vitale" is a spinning display of fire and water accompanied by music. A wooden structure pulled by rope and pulleys raises a performer high above the audience.
Marc van Vliet, the Artistic Director of this group, operates and controls the 40 minute performance from his elevated perch.
