The peaceful scene could make forget how hazardous other power plants can be. Since one and a half year we should know that it is absolutely necessary to have more renewable energy.

This was not always the case. Almost ten years ago, shortly after the two wind turbines have been built the conservative government of Baden-Württemberg revoked the building permission they granted before. It turned out that this was an old quarrel between the conservative prime minister in Stuttgart and green mayor of Freiburg.

All this is history, the government is now green too, and the plant - together with 4 turbines on a nearby hill - supplies electricity to 5400 households. There are even plans to build a larger one near the Schauinsland summit.
