It is interesting how relatively quickly can forest regenerate. I forgot exactly but I remember that the regeneration time period from completely devastated land to hi »deep« forest in Slovenia is about 80 years. There is nice example from WWI…. It is a forest on the altitude of 1200 m on the east side of Mt. Rombon. Heavy 300-400 kg grenades »ploughed« the area 98 years ago but nowadays there is a forest vivid with the life… the military barracks plains are noticeable only with the precise view. Somewhere a rusted iron is jut out the tree roots…Location
