Plains Meets Mountains Lookout Mountain, (peak, 7,375 ft/2,248 m) is part of the Front Range located in Jefferson County, North Central Colorado, 2 mi/3.2 km South West of Golden. A winding mountain road full of switchbacks called Lariat Loop road, will take you to the summit. Lookout Mountain features stunning views of Golden and the Denver Metro area. William F. Cody's (Buffalo Bill) grave and museum is located on the summit along with a plethora of transmitters, antenna and dish arrays.
The lights in the distance are from the city of Golden. Although not visible in this panorama, the Denver Metro Area stretches across the Eastern Plains almost as far as the eye can see.
