Caption
It's a late Friday afternoon and the South Street Seaport Historical District is quiet and deserted.

The area was flooded and badly damaged by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. Most businesses remain closed. This is Peck Slip and it is for the meantime being used as a holding area for flooded related reconstruction and debris.

The view looking North shows Richard Haas' 1977 mural - Trompe L'oeil depicting a scaled illusionistic view of the Brooklyn Bridge of which the actual view of the real Brooklyn Bridge is seen further in the distance.
