The Majorelle Garden is a botanical garden located in Marrakech, Morocco; the project was completed in 1931 after ten years of intensive works.
The garden was designed by the french artist Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962) during the time when Morocco was a french protectorate.
Majorelle was the son of the ébéniste, decorator and furniture designer from Nancy, Louis Majorelle, very famous for his creations in the Art Nouveau style.

The very special shade of cobalt blue color extensively used in the garden and its buildings is named after the artist, bleu Majorelle, Majorelle Blue.

In 1947 the garden has been opened to the public; in the eighties it became the property of the Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé Foundation.
