Setting off on new adventures: In the year of my 50th birthday, my wife and I tried backpacking for the first time. We enjoyed it enough to buy better packs, and set off down the trail again for another overnight outing, on which trip I shot this panorama.

I am also setting off on a renewed interest in spherical photography. I had fallen away from the medium in recent years due to the challenges of equipment weight and the time required to capture images. Treating myself to a one-shot camera for my 50th birthday. While it lacks the image quality of a full rig, it fulfills the maxim that "the best camera is the one you have with you."
