How to Upload and Edit Your WWP Panorama
Submission is done with a web browser form. The preparation server allows you to register as a contributor, upload your images, and type in the title, place, caption and other data.
The period for submissions is announced on the World Wide Panorama facebook group. Make sure that you are signed up there.
Getting an account
IF YOU CONTRIBUTED BEFORE AND HAVE YOUR USER NAME AND PASSWORD: Go to the WWP Preparation Server and you can get started. If you've forgotten your password, follow the directions for a new account below, and be sure to check the box saying you've contributed to the WWP before.
IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT on the WWP Preparation Server, go here to request one.
You will need to enter this basic information:
- Your full name as it will be listed (e.g., Landis Bennett)
- Your family name as it is sorted alphabetically (e.g., Bennett)
- Desired password (or let the system suggest one for you)
- Your contact email address - we won't make this one public. This is where your account information will be sent to.
Then click the "Sign me up" button and wait for one of us to email you your logon information.
NOTE: Incomplete requests will not be processed, but silently discarded. Incomplete requests are e.g. missing family name, URL instead of a family name, missing email.
Log on and edit your Profile information
Once you have input your basic information, you will need to wait for an email from the WWP server, which is sent after manual appoval. It will contain your login data for the WWP Preparation Server.
Please complete your profile first, before you proceed to your Home page, where you can join an event.
Notes on the processing
Thumbnails are generated by an asynchronous process. Usually, processing will start as soon as the upload is finished or as soon as a thumb position is confirmed. Since there is a single processing queue it might take longer if others are contributing at the same time.
If your thumbnail does not reflect the view you’ve chosen, simply make a minor adjustment to its viewing angle or zoom factor and save the new setting. This will erase the previous version and restart the build process.
When new information is added or changed, the WWP software will flag your entry to be approved by one of the admins. We will most likely be routinely approving these entries on a daily basis. While it's waiting to be approved, you will still have access to all of the information and can see it and edit it at any time.
For any questions specific to your account, please get in touch with an admin on the facebook group or mailing list. Any general questions can be referred to this group or list, too.
The WWP Application uses the CKEditor to edit some HTML elements directly. Just click into the text field to make the edit menu appear. It should be pretty self-explanatory.
