A modern fire truck (aka fire apparatus, fire engine, fire appliance) is indeed a machine to behold. It is a multi-purpose vehicle designed to transport firefighters to the scene of a fire or other emergency and provide them water and other equipment for firefighting and rescue tasks.In the panorama, units #38 and #39 belonging to the Jollyville Fire Department are each capable of pumping 1500 gallons per minute and #39 provides 1000 gpm to the nozzle at the top of its 75 foot aerial ladder.
From the station located at 9218 Anderson Mill Road about 12 miles north of Austin, territory covered by the Jollyville Fire Department is a primarily residential 10 square mile area located in the southwest corner of Williamson County, Texas. The company is manned by 20 volunteers and 18 paid firefighters who operate 8 pieces of state of the art apparatus.
