A native of Scotland, I've been interested in Aerial Photography since 2002, and VR since 2004. Combining the two gets some unusual shots, so I try and fly for the WWP, falling back on ground-based shots if the weather won't cooperate!
The personal photograph above was taken from my kite aerial photography system in near freezing air-temperatures. I'm flying the kite with my right hand and taking the picture with my left.
This is great fun! Combining photography with flying kites, as well as all the technology required to get the aerial pictures and post-process them is a great challenge, but all worthwhile when you see peoples' reaction to what VR can achieve.
20 years on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones) have changed photography like this forever, but I continue to use kites, in memory of all those who have used kites right back to 1887.
